Made in Japan in 1980, the FPM-80 was a high end "original design" from Fernandes. To quote the Fernandes catalog: The FPM series is the result of our pursuit of quality basses. The 5-piece maple-based mahogany neck has a through-neck structure that is set straight to the end of the body, producing a well-balanced sound with a sharp attack.
A beautiful piece of Japanese craftsmanship, the previously mentioned neck-through design is coupled with a sen-ash body and a 21 fret maple fingerboard (40mm brass nut, 860mm scale length), it weighs 4.3kg's. Appears to be all original as pictured with Japanese wiring and a pair of Fernandes L-6001 pickups, a brass bridge, brass nut and nickel GB-4 tuners.
Given a full professional setup and service prior to listing, the truss works as it should and the neck is straight with a smooth action and shiny frets with plenty of life left. There's a small crack on the headstock near the E tuner as pictured, very slight and has been reglued so there's no structural issues at all.
