The Boss VB-2 Vibrato is one of the most sought after Boss pedal ever released due to it's timeless tone and practical functionality. The VB-2 adds a subtle pitch modulation and emulates the sound of natural finger vibrato on electric guitar. The pedal was likely designed due to pressure from guitarists who were unsatisfied with the lack of a vibrato mode on the CE-2 Chorus.
The most popular function of the VB-2 is the Latch/Unlatch settings of the Mode switch. This mode allows the user to activate or deactivate the effect momentarily by depressing the footswitch, creating a natural modulation and unique swelling effects.
The Rate knob controls the speed of the effect, the Depth knob controls the amount of modulation, the Rise Time knob controls the initial onset of the effect and the 3 way Mode selector switches between Latch, Bypass and Unlatch modes.
Produced from April 1982 until April 1983.
The VB-2 was one of the shortest production Boss pedals, with production ceasing around a year after release (even though they were still sold for a few years).
