The PE series was an attempt to modernise the Les Paul shape and style and the Matsumoku factory put a lot of effort into making these to the best quality possible. Made in Japan in the early 1980's, this is the first iteration of the PE-R60 model and wears a dark stained red finish with some beautiful grain.
Weighs 3.6kg's and the catalog indicates that they're made with a carved maple top and mahogany back along with a rosewood fingerboard (diamond inlays) and a slim mahogany neck. Protomatic III pickups with Les Paul style wiring and two "dual sound" toggles. Very tidy vintage condition as pictured with only basic signs of wear for a 40 year old guitar. Neck is straight and the shiny frets play smooth with some pitting. This one had a new Gotoh tailpiece professionally installed as pictured.
