Made in Japan briefly in the early 1980's, the Tokai ES100 was one of two models available that were high quality replicas of Gibson's 1960 model ES-335. Maple body with a solid maple center-block set to a rounded U profile one-piece mahogany neck and a 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard, this one weighs 3.6kg's.
Loaded with Gotoh PAF humbuckers and Grover Deluxe tuners along with the original bridge and tailpiece, the previous owner removed two pots so it's wired with master volume/tone controls and a three-way selector. The previous owner also replaced the headstock veneer with a Gibson logo and gave the whole guitar a heavily relic treatment and sanded most of the body and neck from its original nitro finish to a satin smooth feel.
Overall it's a well loved guitar but has no breaks or repairs and is a rock solid player that received a full professional setup and service prior to listing. The neck is straight and the truss adjusts as it should, the frets are shiny and smooth with some wear but plenty of life left.
