Made in Japan in 1972 (prior to the release of the SG series made famous by Santana and countless others), the SG40 was a super "modern" design for the time with plenty of Japanese "art deco" vibe. Solid Katsura body with a deep German carve on the top bolted to a mahogany neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard (628mm scale length, 43mm nut width), it weighs 3.3kg's.
Looks to be all original with a "Terminator" style hardtail bridge, two Yamaha exclusive mini humbuckers and Yamaha branded tuners. Restrung and given a basic service prior to listing, it's playing well with plenty of shine in the vintage gauge frets and a straight neck with a fully adjustable truss.
