The Maxon PT-999 was first seen around 1975 alongside the original D&S, Flying Pan and even the much larger and more complex PT-707. There's no hiding the fact that this release had it's sights set on surpassing the MXR Phase 90. The iconic orange colour, the single knob simplicity, the script font and a majority of the circuitry all resemble MXR's earlier design.
In 1978, Maxon shook it up a bit and released the updated version of the PT-999. As the needs of guitarists were expanding, so were there pedalboards. The rise of the Boss pedal showed the need for a power socket and Maxon took note. They essentially re-released their entire product line in newly designed enclosures that featured a power input and an LED. This new line also saw the introduction of a new compact phaser, the PT-909. Maxon sold the PT-909 and the PT-999 for the same price, which was a nail in the coffin of the simple one knob phaser. For the same price guitarists could now utilise a width and feedback knob in their phaser, and the PT-999 was forgotten.
This is one of the hardest to find Maxon pedals! This issue of the PT-999 was only available in very limited numbers.
Very good condition. Slight marking but works 100%.
