Boss NF-1 Noise Gate
The Boss NF-1 Noise Gate was a tool used by musicians to remove unwanted audio below a set threshold. The NF-1 is used in both live and studio settings to keep noisy pickups and pedals from polluting the signal path.
The Sens (or Sensitivity) knob controls the level at which the effect is activated and the Decay knob controls how steep the drop off of the signal is.
Produced from February 1979 until May 1988.
Screw - SIlver, Black
LED - Momentary, Solid
Dash - Long, Short
Along with the long and short dash variations, the boldness of the font on the NF-1 also changed. The long dash version featured a much thinner font, whereas the later short dash version was more bold. This change was likely to increase the longevity of the print, as the thinner font would wear out much faster.
