Boss BE-5M Programmable Multi Effects
The Boss BE-5 series were the first multi effects pedals released by the company. The BE-5 series were designed by using variations on current production pedals and placing them on a single large PCB inside a single enclosure.
The BE-5M was a the last of the BE-5 series to be released and featured a programmable preset function, allowing the user to save preset combinations of the on board effects and switch between them seamlessly.
The BE-5M features 5 on board effects including an Overdrive/Distortion, Noise Suppressor, Digital Delay, Chorus and Compressor. The pedal also features an External Loop function, allowing you to use external effects in the middle of the signal chain.
The pedal also features stereo outputs, a tuner output, headphone jack and runs off a standard Boss 9vDC power supply.
Produced: Early 1990's
The circuits inside the BE-5M share many similarities with other Boss pedals being made at the same time including the DD-3, CS-3, OS-2 and CE-2. While the circuits aren't identical, they certainly share a lot of sounds and features with the standalone pedals.
The OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion was released in response to the positive feedback received about the Overdrive/Distortion section of the BE-5.
